The Shrek soundtracks are a drove of soundtracks from all four movies of the Shrek series, including separate editions for the motion picture score. Each soundtrack contains all songs that featured in their respective moving-picture show, and the score soundtrack contains the music composed by Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell.

Shrek (2001) [edit]

Background [edit]

Shrek was unique in that it used pop music and other oldies to move the story frontward. Covers of songs like "On the Road Again" and "Try a Little Tenderness" were integrated in the film'due south score.[one] Every bit the film was about to be completed, Katzenberg suggested the filmmakers redo the picture show'south ending in gild to "become out with a big laugh"; instead of catastrophe the film with a storybook closing over Shrek and Fiona as they ride off into the dusk, they decided to add the song "I'm a Laic" past Smash Mouth and prove all the fairytale creatures in the film.[2]

Although Rufus Wainwright's version of the song "Hallelujah" appeared in the soundtrack album, it was John Cale'due south version that appeared in the motion-picture show. Wainwright was an artist for DreamWorks and John Cale was non, thus licensing problems prohibited Cale's version from actualization in the soundtrack album.[iii]
